Hungary

The silting of harbours continued due to the heavy spring floods of 2013. Many stretches of the river are wide enough and have secure bottoms for safe anchoring. This route followed on from our Danube route and so we have not repeated the preamble about boat dimensions etc. here as they may be read on the Danube Overview page. Comments here are specific to the inland waterways of Hungary.

Note: Comments are based on 2013 passages with very high water levels due to extreme rainfall and subsequently very high levels of siltation in harbours.

Mohacs border
control point
Danube km 1449
Depth: >2m
Air Draft: unlimited
Facilities: Moorage here is for document control for leaving the EU only
Description: This facility is separate from the town of Mohacs and is actually upriver from the town area. Boats wishing to visit Mohacs must do so before going to the the border control point.
Problems or Issues: There really isn’t any designated place for sport boats to moor while the exiting is processed (which took 1 hour for Maringret). We moored on the cruise ship dock but would have had to vacate it is a large boat had come along.
