Luxembourg – Inland Waterways

Inland Waterways

As a result of various weather conditions during a late and wet spring  we found ourselves cruising down the eastern border of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. We were on the Mosel river which runs from France to the Rhine river in Germany, after exiting France it runs for approximately 36 km between Germany and Luxembourg before both banks become German.

There is one Port de Plaisance at Schwebsange, guest berths are available with electricity and water, showers and laundry are available. Food can be purchased in Remich which is about 4 km down river or by crossing to Germany at the Schengen bridge which is about 4 km up river. Lidl, Aldi and Reve food stores are on the German end of the Schengen bridge.

One of the prime benefits of Schwebsange is the fuel dock which sells diesel at 20 euro-cents less than German prices.
